Edie is a charismatic, knowledge-wealthy trainer with nearly 3 decades in dentistry, 25 exclusively in implants, and a mission and passion to affect CHANGE! She incorporates real world experiences and humor into all her programs, making difficult subjects fun, empowering, and thought provoking for the entire TEAM! She is the Senior Director of Clinical Education and Training for Claronav, makers of Navident dynamic navigation for dental implantation. Edie owned an independent dental hygiene practice, called About Face in beautiful Crested Butte, CO until spinal surgery ended her full-time clinical career & changed the course of her life.
Edie is the former Executive Director, Certified Educator and founding Fellow of the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries (ADIA). She served on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Practical Hygiene and on the Governing Council for the American Academy of Dental Hygiene (AADH). Edie is a Thought Leader and Key Opinion Leader for several prestigious dental companies and is a contributing author to the bestselling book, Overcoming Mediocrity.

Roy S Shelburne, DDS is an avid traveler (to five continents and cruiser on 8 cruise lines with over 600 cruise nights, an American Dental Association Subject Matter Expert (on documentation, billing, coding and financial matters) dentist, husband, father, business owner, speaker, writer, consultant and...felon, convicted of healthcare fraud, racketeering, money laundering, and structuring then spending 19 months in federal prison and 3 months in a halfway house. 

Dr Roy Shelburne has spoken at the American Dental Association’s National Meeting, the Greater New York Dental Meeting, the Yankee Dental Congress, the Hinman Dental Meeting to name a few and shares his story, his mistakes, and what was learned so that you might implement systems to maximize legitimate reimbursement, reduce stress, laugh more and stay out of prison….  (He can also be counted on in most locations as an experienced travel guide.)

He is a proud graduate of The Ohio State University where he achieved his Bachelors in Science of Dental Hygiene. Elijah has lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, Las Vegas Nevada and now resides in South Florida with his wife and 3 year old daughter Chloe.

Laura Hatch is the founder and CEO of Front Office Rocks, the leader in on-demand front office training for dental practices. Laura Hatch has been improving dental offices for almost two decades. She built her first practice on the East Coast from the ground up in 2003 , skyrocketing the practice to $120,000 in monthly collections in less than 4 years. After moving to the West Coast in 2007, she followed this success by opening a new fee-for-service practice that generates over $200,000 a month in collections. Laura witnessed first-hand what was missing from the front office of dental practices – training.

After twelve years as an office manager and two different fee-for-service scratch dental practices on different coasts during different economies, Laura sought to bring resources to dental practices like hers and created Front Office Rocks . As the leading authority on virtual dental front office training, In addition to traveling around the country to compete in Spartan races, Laura also travels internationally to help dental professionals who want to be better at what they do gain the training they need through online video courses, live seminars, and coaching. Drawing on her experience working with practices all over the world, Laura has authored over 500 articles for leading dental publications and has written her own book, “Step Away From the Drill”, that helps dentists discover their purpose and become true leaders of their practice. Sue Jeffries RDH, BSDH is a twenty-year Navy veteran and lover of all things nautical, especially days on the water with family and friends. As a Certified Health Coach with the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and master of Total Quality Leadership and Management, Sue is a subject matter expert on all things “Team” related. She advocates for raising awareness of bullying, mental health, suicide, and overall wellbeing. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, speaker, consultant, and writer.

Sue speaks to associations and groups across the United States and most recently was selected the winner of the Smiles at CE Dentistry’s Got Talent 2018 speaking competition. Through thought provoking interactive exercises and demonstrations, she shares her thirty-five years of industry knowledge and real-life experience to assist practice owners, teams, and individuals to live and work vibrant, balanced, and profitable lives. Team members do not check their personal baggage at the front door; it always comes in. Learn ways to welcome the baggage and still develop a highly cohesive “work family”.

Leslie Canham

Leslie is a speaker and consultant specializing in Infection Control, OSHA Compliance, HIPAA regulations, and treating special needs patients. Leslie helps dental teams navigate the sea of state and federal regulations. Her vast experience in dentistry, along with her OSHA knowledge, gives her a unique, in the trenches, perspective on how dental practices can best meet compliance.  Whether its presenting to a large group, consulting in a dental practice, or one on one coaching, Leslie helps simplify and streamline complex regulations.

She is a Certified Speaking Professional whose fast paced, entertaining programs have earned her the reputation as an outstanding speaker in dentistry. In the dental field since 1972, Leslie now devotes her time to providing training and education for dental professionals on how to keep patients and the dental team safe.

Leslie delivers up to date, accurate information that dental teams can relate to. She is often called upon by governmental agencies and dental corporations to consult after infection control breaches are found.  Her “in the field” experience provides thought provoking images of Do’s and Don’ts to help dental teams avoid infection transmission and accidents.   Leslie shares tips, tools, and hands on activities to make training memorable, repeatable, and sticky.

Leslie and her husband Mike take to the seas frequently as scuba divers. They have travelled to Fiji, Panama, Bonaire, Cozumel, and even Lake Tahoe for high altitude diving. For Leslie, safety always comes first when night diving, deep diving, and ship wreck diving. Mike on the other hand can’t resist getting up close and personal with sharks for a photograph with his underwater camera.

With a passion for new things, Tom is a travel junkie and adrenaline seeker who happens to have a brain that never stops. When not exploring new places or extreme hobbies Tom loves to use his brain and hands to take things apart and fix them. Tom lives for family time and especially appreciates building and repairing fun projects with his wife and son by his side. Tom’s favorite form of relaxation is long secluded forest hikes with his family and two dogs.
Tom’s passion for transformative healthcare simulation education started early. As a teen-aged volunteer firefighter he drilled alongside skilled fire and EMS rescuers—learning his profession while helping to do it. This fusion of education and experience informed his understanding of how healthcare providers learn.
His clinical practice as a paramedic includes service in Union County, North Carolina and Youngstown, Ohio—busy, progressive EMS services but lacking the integrated training culture he had known since his early fire service. Eager to develop his instructional skills, he earned pediatric and adult advanced life support teaching credentials at Cleveland Clinic, the nation’s top-ranked cardiovascular hospital. He began teaching there in 2010.
He was a key member in opening three medical simulation training centers: Cleveland Clinic’s Multidisciplinary Simulation Center, Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron, Ohio and Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. His special talent is bringing an educator’s vision to life, leveraging cutting-edge technology to create the most realistic experience possible.
Today, Tom trains instructors and healthcare providers in classrooms and labs, at international conferences and on cruise ships. He is an accomplished speaker and force multiplier, empowering learners to grow professionally during simulation and motivating educators to create realistic, relevant training that improves quality and patient safety. His enthusiasm and ability to engage healthcare providers, forged in the fire and EMS service and refined in one of the nation’s best academic medical centers, are evident in everything he does.
