Making It Easy for Patients to Accept Implant Dentistry

Course Summary:

This workshop is perfectly suited for dentists and team members and teaches the skills to make case acceptance from single tooth to complex care dentistry predictably successful. It’s specifically designed for you if you have a broad base general “bread and butter” practice and are also growing the complex care aspect of your practice – cosmetic, implant, CAD CAM, 3D imaging/airway, and rehabilitative dentistry. The session includes case study simulations that make your lessons immediately relevant to your everyday practice. The workshop is based on the book Making It Easy for Patients to say “YES”.

Objectives:

Attendees will learn:
• Left- and Right-side Patients – the 6 critical distinctions between modest care patients and complex care implant patients you must know when presenting care
• The Four Chiefs™ – The four essential conversations of case acceptance for implant dentistry
• The Choice Dialogue – Discover patient readiness for implant dentistry before you spend a lot of time planning it
• The Cross-Over Zone™ – How to discover patients’ budgets for care and eliminate your discomfort when talking about money
• The Advocacy Dialogue – Managing patients who are not yet ready for care

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Paul Homoly practiced implant and restorative dentistry for twenty years. He’s been active in dental continuing education for 23 years. He developed a regional practice of implant and restorative dentistry, treating over 4500 partially and totally edentulous patients. He’s authored five books; Dentists: An Endangered Species; Isn’t it Wonderful When Patients Say “Yes!”; Making it Easy for Patients to Say “Yes!”; Just Because You’re Leading… Doesn’t Mean They’ll Follow, and Just Because You’re An Expert… Doesn’t Make You Interesting. Paul authored the online in-office training program Making It Easy for Patients to Say “YES” – case acceptance for complete dentistry.

Dr. Roy S Shelburne

Clinical Records Prevent Criminal Records

Course Summary:

Dr. Shelburne went to prison on August 20, 2008 and was released on May 14, 2010 and learned a series of lessons the hard way. There are ways to protect and defend a dental practice and to prevent what happened to him from happening to you.

Know that if it’s not in your clinical record, you didn’t see it, you didn’t say it, you didn’t do it, it didn’t need to be done, and it doesn’t exist….from the legal perspective. To be prepared for any challenge the whole dental team must be careful, concise, complete, and diligent, not just the doctor because, the whole team is potentially at risk. Learning and implementing this no non-sense team approach to record keeping could mean the difference between success and failure in the event of an action or challenge to your practice and will result in maximum legitimate reimbursement.

Objectives:

1. To have fun while learning
2. To understand that what you don’t know can hurt you and that ignorance is no excuse
3. To learn to assimilate and maintain records that can both protect and defend.
4. Understand the necessity of due diligence and how to conduct records review and internal audits to insure accuracy and excellence

Speaker Bio:

Ahoy mateys! Roy S Shelburne, DDS is an avid traveler (to five continents and cruiser on 8 cruise lines with over 600 cruise nights, an American Dental Association Subject Matter Expert (on documentation, billing, coding and financial matters) dentist, husband, father, business owner, speaker, writer, consultant and…felon, convicted of healthcare fraud, racketeering, money laundering, and structuring then spending 19 months in federal prison and 3 months in a halfway house. Dr Roy Shelburne has spoken at the American Dental Association’s National Meeting, the Greater New York Dental Meeting, the Yankee Dental Congress, the Hinman Dental Meeting to name a few and shares his story, his mistakes, and what was learned so that you might implement systems to maximize legitimate reimbursement, reduce stress, laugh more and stay out of prison…. (He can also be counted on in most locations as an experienced travel guide.)
